A Serene, Gender-Neutral Nursery Design

Today's Serene, Gender-Neutral Nursery Design was submitted by Gretchen and found via the Project Nursery Design Gallery. Keeping the gender of their newborn baby a surprise, this couple wanted to create a warm, calming space that would suit their little one, whether it be boy or girl. They chose a warm grey paint for the walls, neutral-toned furniture and then added bursts of mustard yellow and turquoise for some color. They found some great animal prints and an elephant bust to fill the walls and incorporated art that featured butterflies and feathers to finish off the decor. Isn't it AMAZING? If you'd like to see just how this space came together, please visit Gretchen's blog where she shares all of the project details and vendors - there's even some "before" and "after" photos...INCREDIBLE! {Images courtesy of Gretchen Schuett}

Gretchen's advice for creating the perfect Gender-Neutral space ..."If you're looking for a calm, serene place to be with your little one, lots of soft, light fabrics make a difference, as well as layering (like the sheep skin rug on top of the area rug). Lighting is also a big deal. We put the overhead lantern on a dimmer switch so there is always soft white light in there and it feels so comfortable and soft. Also, don't be afraid to mix finishes of your furnishings. We have a bright white crib, a cream, patina dresser, and a natural wood changing topper. I think the mix ended up looking eclectic and not so stuffy."

An All-American Vintage Nursery Design

We are ending the week with this All-American Vintage Nursery Design that I came across via Project Nursery. Mom-to-be Kellee centered her design around the dresser/changing table and instantly fell in love with its weathered-grey finish. Using a neutral color palette, she knew that she wanted to incorporate vintage wooden toys throughout the room to create the feeling classic Americana. If you are interested in learning about the specific project details that were used to create this space, you can find them {here}. Enjoy and have a GREAT weekend!

Nest Baby Shower - Perfect for Spring!

Since winter is {hopefully} coming to an end soon, I thought it might be a good time to start looking for some inspiring Spring Baby Showers. I was visiting Project Nursery and came across this breathtaking display from Trenna Travis Design Studio - it's exactly what I was looking for to help inspire those of you planning a spring baby shower or event!

I absolutely {LOVE} the color palate used here and how nicely everything blends together in the tablescape - from the towering birdcage centerpiece, to the favors + decor and how perfectly the floral centerpieces match!

How about these adorable handmade mini birdcage favors with coordinating "sack lunches". Yes, I said it...those bags are filled with a yummy lunch for all of the shower guests to enjoy, along with a tasty and colorful bottle of orange pop.

The nest favors filled with foil covered chocolate eggs add a lovely touch to the theme of this shower and I am taken back on how beautifully crafted the invitations are. They were made using a variety of scrapbooking paper that displays all of the colors perfectly and even incorporate a bird with its egg.

Every party needs a "sweet" ending and there's not always enough time to bake all of the tasty treats. Believe it or not, Trenna used store-bought desserts and added a little 'flair' by accenting them with some flowers and candy eggs to go along with the event's theme - BRILLIANT!
